Ryan's Birthday and Family Beach Trip

Happy Birthday to Ryan!  His birthday was the 10th, so we celebrated at the beach.  Here was his beautiful cake...

It was all I could come up with (last minute) at the Food Lion on the island.  At least it was tasty!  I opted for an ice cream cake because we had been snacking on Will's birthday cake for days.

Allie and Ryan on his birthday.  He is sporting his gift that she picked out for him... a tee with the Sesame Street characters that reads "All my homies are from the street". :)  I gave Ryan his presents before we left for the trip.  They were both shirts, and they were both too small.  Especially this one.....

For the second summer in a row, Dad rented us all a BEAUTIFUL house at Topsail Island for a week.  It was wonderful.  We spent all day every day down at the pool or the beach.  Then came in, cleaned up and played cards while getting dinner ready.

Papa led the Noodle-lympics every night with the kids.  It was hilarious.  They had to jump and dive through and over the noodles into the pool, and were judged on their performance.

They also had Noodle Wars.  No explanation needed.

The guys did lots of fishing in the evening.  Ryan caught several little sharks!  The neighbor said that he had caught sharks throughout the week that were 4-5 feet long!!!  And let's not forget my sister's friend that got bit by a shark at this very beach and is getting ready to have another surgery on it.  Confirms my hesitation about the getting in the ocean...
Fortunately, Allie was happy as could be just playing in the sand.

We were thoroughly entertained by the kids playing Just Dance on the Wii.  It became hysterical when Kelly jumped in....

All in all, it was a great week.  I am so thankful that we are able to take a week away from home and work and relax and fellowship with family.  I am so blessed that my parents, sisters, the sons-in-law and the kids all get along so well and have really great relationships with each other.

Dad's already in the process of booking the same house for June of next year. Only difference will be we will have little 8-month old Jack in tow!

First Day of Summer

Even though we have been celebrating summer for the past week since school has been out, today is the official day!  Allie and I are both looking forward to a long summer filled with swim lessons, Vacation Bible School, the pool, lake, beach & mountains.  I have to admit, it makes me a little sad to think about this being the last summer of it just being her.  Before we know it she will be starting third grade and baby Jack will be arriving.  So I am going to try really hard to do something I am not very good at... RELAX and ENJOY my days home with her.

Topsail Island Beach Vacation

We are back from a wonderful week at the beach- full of playing all day in the ocean and pool, watching movies, playing games, sunset walks on the beach, shore fishing, and of course TONS of eating and drinking! We also celebrated Will's 5th Birthday and Ryan's 27th! It was a perfect way to wrap up the summer.
