It was all I could come up with (last minute) at the Food Lion on the island. At least it was tasty! I opted for an ice cream cake because we had been snacking on Will's birthday cake for days.
Allie and Ryan on his birthday. He is sporting his gift that she picked out for him... a tee with the Sesame Street characters that reads "All my homies are from the street". :) I gave Ryan his presents before we left for the trip. They were both shirts, and they were both too small. Especially this one.....
For the second summer in a row, Dad rented us all a BEAUTIFUL house at Topsail Island for a week. It was wonderful. We spent all day every day down at the pool or the beach. Then came in, cleaned up and played cards while getting dinner ready.
Papa led the Noodle-lympics every night with the kids. It was hilarious. They had to jump and dive through and over the noodles into the pool, and were judged on their performance.
They also had Noodle Wars. No explanation needed.
The guys did lots of fishing in the evening. Ryan caught several little sharks! The neighbor said that he had caught sharks throughout the week that were 4-5 feet long!!! And let's not forget my sister's friend that got bit by a shark at this very beach and is getting ready to have another surgery on it. Confirms my hesitation about the getting in the ocean...
Fortunately, Allie was happy as could be just playing in the sand.
We were thoroughly entertained by the kids playing Just Dance on the Wii. It became hysterical when Kelly jumped in....
All in all, it was a great week. I am so thankful that we are able to take a week away from home and work and relax and fellowship with family. I am so blessed that my parents, sisters, the sons-in-law and the kids all get along so well and have really great relationships with each other.
Dad's already in the process of booking the same house for June of next year. Only difference will be we will have little 8-month old Jack in tow!
